  • Why is plant based food coloring so important?

So many bright, fun, colorful foods are made with synthetic dyes and harsh chemicals that can have a negative impact on your health. We don’t get into too much detail here but we are excited to present plant based food color that comes from nature’s sources.

  • Are your sprinkles also dye free?

Not at this time but we are excited to be working on “natural” sprinkle options for the near future.  It will take some time, but we are working hard to make this happen. We felt that food coloring was a priority since frosting (buttercream) is such a huge part of what we consume in our sweet treats and wanted to get this product to you first before others!

  • What are your plant based food colors made from?

The colors are a unique combination of all natural plant sources so enjoy nature's true rainbow palette with stunning shades. These gorgeous colors are made from fruits, vegetables, seeds, roots and minerals. They are derived from nature and truly have the greatest hues. These food colors are a healthy alternative to synthetic ingredients & artificial preservatives.

  • Are your plant based food colors allergen free as well?

They are free of FD&C dyes, free of artificial preservatives and free of allergens including milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat and soy. They are also gluten free and GMO free.

  • What is best for me? Plant Based Gel Paste Powders or Plant Based Liquid Colors?

The biggest difference between the powders and liquid is color variation. Plant Based Gel Paste Powders by SMöR will give you more color variation than liquid. For example, when you think of ‘leaf green’ that could mean a variety of green colors. With a tiny adjustment from water to lemon juice, you could achieve many shades of ‘leaf green’ with our powders. Plant Based Liquid Colors by SMöR are pretty straight forward. You can achieve a darker hue with more liquid but not necessarily a different shade or tone. With our liquids, yellow is either pale yellow or bright yellow- but may not give you the banana to pear to lemon yellow you can achieve with powders.

  • What is the storage and shelf life of your products?

For food color, store unused products in a cool, dry area away from heat and direct light. Will last up to 24 months when stored correctly.
